Soft Pastel on Tinted Paper

The body has a memory. A terrain is the accumulated memory of its soil over eons. It flows, grows, weathers, wrinkles, breaks by its own rules. The grain of the earth is no different from the skin cells that carpet the body, home to layers of emotions and interactions, strata of evolution and metamorphosis. They are both alive in their movement, in the evermore changes that each day brings. The body has its own logic for desiring and destroying. So the terrains. In this series, this metaphor weaves together the earth and the body, each a homeland, each a refuge.
